Description
High-quality early Biedermeier roll-top desk or cylinder secretaire / writing cabinet from South Germany around 1820.
- Very thick cherrywood saw veneer on softwood and solid cherrywood.
- Ebonized strips and decorative elements. At the top a circumferential railing with ebonized rungs.
- Large ink painting in the center of the roll flap and original painting around the fittings and edges.
- Below two drawers with great original brass fittings depicting finely worked faces.
- In the lower drawer is a large double locking box lock for both drawers.
- Pull-out writing tablet covered with black genuine leather (added later).
- Conservationally restored, hand-polished with shellac.
