Find out more About us

COLONEUM Antik | biedermeier · art deco was founded in 1989 by Alwin Homeier in Regensburg, Bavaria and is now run as a small family business by two generations.

The store with showroom is located at Watmarkt 3 in the heart of Regensburg’s historic old town. In our spacious, bright premises, you will find a wide selection of original, top-restored classicist and modern furniture on 500 m².

While early Biedermeier & Empire as well as Art Deco & Bauhaus furniture are our main focus, selected vintage modern design classics and Pop Art are also increasingly being included in our range.

Thanks to the trained eye and long-standing network of Alwin Homeier, supported by his son David, only selected, beautifully shaped and high-quality original pieces are acquired and restored to a high standard.

You can find our entire selection of available furniture in our online store on this website, in our store in Regensburg and on various marketplaces. COLONEUM Antik is a member of the Münchner Antiquitätenmarkt e.V. and has been an exhibitor at international art and antiques fairs for many years.

Our history

Eröffnungsfeier, 1989, Coloneum Wohnart - Antik & Klassisch

1989: Founded

COLONEUM was founded in November 1989 by Alwin Homeier under the name Coloneum Wohnart Antik & Klassisch, initially as a generalist antiques shop. The first store opened in Schwandorferstraße in the north of Regensburg.

1991: Move into Regensburg’s old town

With the move to Regensburg’s historic town center, Alwin, with the support of his wife Elke, managed to reach a wider audience. First they moved into an old vault at Watmarkt in Regensburg’s antiques district. The next move to Tändlergasse 2 followed just one year later, when a larger store on two floors around the corner became available. During this time, the specialization in straight-lined, early Biedermeier furniture from around 1820 had already clear.

2003: Relocation to Watmarkt 3 – today’s permises

At the beginning of the 2000s, the opportunity arose to move into the more modern and brighter business premises of the former Radio Weigl, which were located directly opposite. At around this time, French Art Deco furniture was increasingly added to the range alongside early Biedermeier furniture.

A breakthrough to the neighboring building Watmarkt 1 doubled the showroom floor space. The resulting showrooms of around 500 square meters still form the COLONEUM Antik showroom today.
