DE-SI-529 Pair of ‚5470‘ armchairs by Jan de Bouvrie for Gelderland, tubular steel, Netherlands, circa 1990

Description

The 5470 Lotus armchair was designed in 1989 by Jan de Bouvrie for Gelderland and has been a timeless classic in the modern Bauhaus style ever since. The designer drew inspiration for this piece from the rear end of his favorite car, the Porsche 911.

Chrome-plated steel tubing, black-painted wood, and new upholstery fabric.

This pair has been fully restored: For the seat cushions, we selected the high-quality cream-white/black “Origami Rockets” upholstery fabric by the British design duo Eley Kishimoto (ROMO Group). The tubular steel frame has been polished, and the armrests have been refinished with black hard wax oil. This has further enhanced the elegant armchairs, making them one-of-a-kind pieces that are sure to be eye-catchers in any interior.

1990s model. Comes with the manufacturer’s original certificate.

Very comfortable to sit in.
