Description

Unique chair in the shape of a hand, probably Mexico circa 1960.

Finely carved details, lifelines, nails and folds. The front of the base with vine carvings and the back with heavily scrubbed fluting.

Very heavy sculpture, made from one piece of carved hardwood.

Highly polished black surface with a multi-layered lacquer finish.

In the style of Pedro Friedeberg. Likely carved in a studio in Guadalajara, Jalisco Mexico, circa 1960. Few comparable chairs exist in solid cocobolo rosewood, each unique in its carvings.
