Biedermeier Display Cabinet, Cherry Veneer, Ash Burl, Austria circa 1820

Description

Elegant, early Biedermeier display cabinet, vitrine or bookcase from southern Germany around 1820.

  • Cherry wood veneered on softwood. Partly ebonized.
  • Ash burl veneer inlaid on the side pilaster strips and framed by plum wood band inlay.
  • Three glass panes with horizontal, cherry veneered intermediate struts.
  • Inside 4 shelves, covered with black fabric.
  • Original lock with brass key.
  • Restored and hand-polished with shellac.
