Signed Macassar Ebony Sideboard from Marseilles / Southern France about 1925
The wood used, is a wonderful Macassar Ebony Veneer on the outside and Walnut veneer inside. It has an excellent high-gloss surface, elaborately done with clear lacquer on the veneer and and black piano lacquer on the leg and top (6 layers 2K-PUR).
On the right door inside the is a manufacturer emblem labelled: “David Frères Marseille”
The handles are original and have been newly galvanized (Nickel-plated). Inside it has one adjustable inlay plate mad of walnut solid wood. The inside of the doors are clear-lacquered, too. All the hinges are old and newly galvanized.
